Is it a subscription?

No. Founding pricing is $49 one-time for Personal and $119 one-time for Lifetime Updates; standard v1 pricing will be $59 and $149. Personal includes one year of feature updates, with optional update passes at $19 for one year or $49 for three years (a later restart is capped at $29). Lifetime Updates includes feature updates for the lifetime of the product. Every eligible app version keeps working permanently, even after a Personal update window ends.

Does it upload filenames or usage data?

No. GrimDex has no account requirement, telemetry, or cloud index. Search data and settings stay on your computer.

Why can indexing show a UAC prompt?

The app normally runs without elevation. Windows restricts raw MFT enumeration on some volumes, so a user-requested full-index upgrade relaunches the same executable briefly as an elevated broker. Declining leaves the readable directory snapshot working.

How is it different from Everything?

GrimDex keeps indexed whole-disk search inside a complete file manager with tabs, panes, previews, file operations, drag and drop, and native shell actions.

Which Windows versions are supported?

The current GrimDex build supports 64-bit Windows 10 or newer.

Which filesystems get indexed search?

NTFS drives receive the complete indexed-search path. Other volumes remain available for normal folder browsing wherever Windows provides access.

Can I try everything before buying?

Yes. The 14-day trial is the full product. It does not require a payment method or account.

What if activation or updating fails?

The license screen exposes the machine ID for support. Updates retain a recoverable previous executable and surface the result after restart. See the documentation for the exact diagnostics to send.
